“I thought it was a joke at first,” Citizen sports editor Ken Lane recalls of the publisher’s suggestion to provide little variety over the summer months. “But then I realized he wasn’t kidding. He really wanted us to do a swimsuit edition!” What started out as an amusing venture soon turned into a concept piece, utilizing the small paper’s talented photographers and graphic designers to create the special issue.
